Gift from the Sea

The house was beautiful. The view of the beach and water was amazing. Everyone loved the house layout. The master bedroom on the top floor was spacious and beautifully furnished. The furniture on all the balconies was perfect. We particularly liked the high adirondack chairs for sitting and enjoying the sunset. But most nights the entire family went to the beach to enjoy the sunset (which were gorgeous). The direct access from the house to the beach made it extremely easy to go back and forth from the house to the beach. The biggest decision we had to make each day was to go to the beach or enjoy our own pool. (Most days we did both!!) Our children and grandchildren also loved being within walking distance to the Trading Post, Weber's Donut shop, Peachy's restaurant for lunch and the St. Joe Shrimp Company for fresh seafood. Daily visits were made to the Cape Coffee and Ice Cream shop. Nightly fires at our own fire pit and time in the hot tub also were popular. We have already requested the same week for 2025 at the Gift from the Sea house. When ever we needed maintenance help to replace light bulbs etc., Cape & Coast Maintenance responded quickly and politely. There was a tropical storm on the Saturday we checked in. The winds were strong and every pool on the Cape and some debris from plants and trees blow into pools. But Cape & Coast had the pool staff clean it out very soon after I reported the need.

This house was perfect for our family of 4 adults & 3 kids. Great view of the ocean & sunsets were amazing! 4 levels but w/ an elevator, hauling our stuff up and down was super easy. The pool was nice & refreshing. The kitchen was well stocked. We enjoyed the master suite...it was the entire 4th floor, therefore very private. We love the Cape...weather was perfect and the conditions of the ocean were very nice all week...yellow flag, but could have easily been green! We would definitely recommend this house & would rent again! Thank you for a great stay!

Gift from the Sea didn't disappoint with room for the entire family. The elevator was a nice addition, as we are senior adults and not use to stairs. The pool and furniture made it enjoyable to relax and enjoy the sun.

Reviewer Comments: I was very impressed with the home and the quality of the furnishings. It was a beautiful home. The one thing that I felt was not quality was the washer and dryer. Especially the clothes dryer. It was rusty and it was extremely beat up looking.. and didn’t work that well. Other then that.. the house was great. I do have a few suggestions though. They could use a few more hooks in the bathrooms.. maybe over the door hooks or something. And some extra towels would have been nice as well. If we flew to get here.. we would not have been able to bring our own towels. I feel that should definitely be included. I’ve had included in all the rentals I’ve ever rented in, all over the country. The house was beautiful though. However, it was not super clean when we arrived. Most of it was.. but a few areas were not. But all in all.. we overlooked that, tidied up where it needed it, and had a great time. I am a bug hater (especially spiders) and was so happy to say.. I never saw a single bug in the house! :). The beach was really nice! It was great to just walk right down on the private walkway. (Although... I did wish the shrubs were not growing over the gate and walkway... I did not like reaching into the shrubbery to have to open the gate. But still.. the house was lovely. My gripes are just minor. I did however have one large gripe... about the road getting to the house. It had a section that was sand... and it was awful! We drove a large passenger van that had a rough time getting through. It was so odd that they had part of the road missing and just had folks struggle through the sand. If I lived there, I would find that unacceptable.

My immediate and extended family stayed at this gorgeous house this past July, and we all loved it! It is beautifully decorated, spacious, and right on the beach with private beach access! The private pool came in handy too for the times that the kids preferred that to the ocean. The view is incredible, and we would hands down recommend this house to anyone. A Taste of Heaven is a great house! Beautifully landscaped, Weber gas grill, hot tub, a closet full of beach toys/chairs, and plenty of seating and chaises for sun or shade on a lovely terrace around the pool are special additions to this property. The elevator made unloading and packing a breeze but it was also essential to on person in our group...4 couples. The kitchen is as well equipped as you could ask for. Since there are limited restaurants that was a real plus. Long Bill’s, about two miles toward the end of the peninsula is a fun lunch spot. We bought fresh seafood at the little seafood market on the corner just before you get to Haven Dr. The living area accommodated all 8 of us or easily divided for smaller, more intimate conversations. The white furniture was comfortable and clean. There were a couple of hiccups. Mon night one of the fire alarms went off for about five minutes and then began again for 20 minutes at 4:00 am. The management company returned our call and said they would handle it but couldn’t tell or notify us via text when someone would be there. A nice “dock and deck” man appeared later in the day. He said he didn’t know anything about the alarms but he took a couple from the house and said someone would bring them back. They were never returned. The AC required comforters at night in the front bedrooms. There was no air flow in the back bedrooms and the fan didn’t work. Fortunately the nights were cool and we slept with the windows open and without cover. Again the house, pool area and beach access are all great. There are a couple of details that would make it A+. There are no coat hangers in any of the closets. An unexpected trip to the Dollar Store in Port St Joe remedied that. As pointed out in the instructions, there is a small bath towel, hand towel and washcloth for each person. This is a special house but minimal bath towels were definitely a negative. We brought own extra bath towels along with Dove, Bounty, Tide, Dawn, etc. and beach towels. If you need anything, a “quick” trip to the store is 30 minutes both ways, so arrived prepared.

My husband, our two children and three grands had a lovely week at Calypso. The house was well appointed and comfortable. We cooked our meals and the kitchen was well equipped. We have no complaints! Loved our time and would go back!

Due to the Coronavirus we spent most of our time around the house enjoying the pool and beach which helped minimize contact with others. Gift from the Sea is a magnificent home located on gulf side of Cape San Blas that offered us a great escape form the Covid lock down. This home has an excellent layout with large covered porches for enjoying the amazing ocean views. This home is well stocked and comfortably furnished. I agree with an earlier review I read that said the pictures don’t begin to show how special this home truly is. Cape and Coast is by far the best management company I have dealt with. Thank you for sharing your home with us!

Carl Sheline and had a wonderful experience, catching well over 50 lbs. of filleted tripletail which were delicious when prepared. We rented 5 bikes from VayK Gear and the kids loved exploring. The local ice cream shop was a huge hit! The beach home we rented was perfect for our family of 12 and it even included an elevator which was wonderful! We had a small inground pool where we congregated in the afternoons and at night and also enjoyed the hot tub. The kitchen was well-stocked with all the pots, pans, etc. we needed to prepare our meals. In all, it was one of the most relaxed and comfortable vacations we have had. Thank you so much!

Working with Heather Haire to find the PERFECT home for our family, was the beginning of an absolutely perfect vacation!! Gift From The Sea lived up to its name in every way!! Our 3 grown children and their spouses had plenty of space to hang out together, as well as, retreat to for quiet time. The 3 grandchildren thoroughly enjoyed the private pool and the close proximity to the beach! The added bonus of the rental equipment was unexpected. We enjoyed the bikes that we selected and the wagon was perfect for all the beach paraphernalia. Finally, the hospitality app made the whole process seamless!! Our questions were answered before we asked them!! Thank you so much for the precious memories!! We will be back!!
